In 1943, as a trained nurse, she joined the Navy aboard H.M.C.S. Discovery in Vancouver and was immediately sent to H.M.C.S. Stadacona Naval Hospital in Halifax. For a short time, Millicent worked at the Hospital aboard H.M.C.S. Cornwallis, which was a Tri-Services Hospital for tuberculosis. She was released in 1946 and currently resides in Truro, N.S. MACDONALD, Alexander Daniel WWII Alexander was born in Sydney, Nova Scotia in 1922. He joined the Canadian Army and served in the 2nd Canadian Armoured Brigade R.C.E.M.E. in Continental Europe. He did service in Canada, England, France, Belgium, Holland, and Germany. He enlisted in 1941 and was discharged in 1946. WWII Herbert was born in Earltown, Nova Scotia on March 10, 1913. He served as a Zapper with 239 Battalion and the Third C.R.E. in France and Belgium. Herbert was a 39-year Life Member of Colchester Branch #026, The Royal Canadian Legion in Truro, Nova Scotia. He passed away in March 1995 at the age of 82. He served in WWI with the 185th Battalion and 85th Battalion in France and Belgium. In WWII, he served with the Cape Breton Highlanders in England. John passed away in 1954.
