He served with the Cape Breton Highlanders doing active duty in Italy, and toured the United Kingdom and the Mediterranean from 1943-1945. He received the following war medals: Canadian Volunteer Service Medal & Clasp, 1939-1945 Star, and Italy Star. Gerard passed away in 1994. He joined the Canadian Army and served overseas in Italy from 1942-1945. He was a member of the Westside Branch #126 for 15 years before he passed away in 1977. He enlisted in the Canadian Army in September 1942 and was discharged in November 1945. He served with the Princess Louise Dragon Guards (RECCE). His Battle Honors include: Liri Valley, Gothic Line, Capture of Revenna, Mont Sorrel, Motta Monte Corvino, Hiler Line, Tomba Dipesaro, Navilglio Canel. His service medals include: 1939-1945 Star, Italy Star, France and Germany Star, War Medal 1939-1945, C.V.S.M. & Clasp, Defense Medal. He was also a member of the overseas War Veterans. Association. He served in the Royal Canadian Air Force in Canada from 1941 to 1946. He received the C.V.S.M. and 1939-1945 Star. Michael is a Life Member of Westside Branch #126, The Royal Canadian Legion. Submitted by Westside Branch #126, The Royal Canadian Legion. MACGREGOR, Joseph Edward Korea Joe was born on May 22, 1931 in Burton, Prince Edward Island. He joined the military on August 13, 1950 as a Dispatch Rider in the Army for two years and then he served in the Navy as a Fire Controlman. In early 1951, Joe left Seattle, Washington on a troop ship to Pusan, Korea and returned to Halifax in May 1952. He continued to serve until being Honourably Released on May 21, 1976. Joe's medals include the Korean Medal, UN Service Medal, and the Canadian Forces Decoration & Clasp. He is a 34year member of Colchester Branch #026, The Royal Canadian Legion.
