She joined the Canadian Army Dental Corps and served in Canada until 1945. She now lives in Oshawa, ON, Submitted by Middleton Branch 001 of The Royal Canadian Legion. MCMILLAN, Stanley Yorston “Stan the Man” WWII “Stan the man” enlisted with the R.C.A.S.C. Active Duty on April 29, 1942, and served in Canada and the United Kingdom. He was discharged on July 27, 1946, to return to civilian life “On demobilization.” For his wartime service, Stanley was awarded the Defence Medal, Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp, and the War Medal. He joined The Legion in 1959, was awarded Life Membership in 1983, and was cited as Legion Member of the Year in 1990. On February 19, 1997, he was awarded the Meritorious Service Medal. Stan passed away at the age of eighty-six on October 10, 2004. Submitted by Colchester Branch 026 of The Royal Canadian Legion. MELANSON, Stanford Leon WWII Stanford was born in Weymouth, NS, in 1924. He served overseas during World War Two. Stanford passed away on June 30, 1993. MCKEEN, Henry Alexander “Alex” WWII Alex enlisted on December 12, 1941 in Halifax, NS, and was honorably discharged with the rank of Corporal on November 27, 1945 in Dartmouth, NS. He served as part of The Royal Canadian Air Force in Canada and overseas. He was awarded the 1939-1945 Star, the FranceGermany Star, the Defence Medal and the CVSM. He was part of the June 6, D-Day landing in 1944, being in the second wave of troops landing around 9:00 a.m. Alex served diligently in his volunteering for the aims and objectives of The Royal Canadian Legion, receiving many acknowledgements from his peers for his efforts. He passed away on August 29, 1994. Submitted by the Montgomery Branch 133 of The Royal Canadian Legion. MELANSON, Leslie Alexandre WWII Leslie was born in Corberrie, NS, in 1917. He served with the 2nd West Nova Scotia Regiment, No. 6 District Depot, C.A. (Radar) in Halifax Harbour, NS. He received the War Medal 1939-1945.
