Nova Scotia/Nunavut Command of The Royal Canadian Legion www.ns.legion.ca 145 RAFUSE, Charles Laurie WWII Laurie was born in Waterville, NS. He enlisted in the R.C.N.V.R. in March 1943, at the age of twenty. He served on the Corvette H.M.C.S. LaMalbaie based in St. John’s, NL, and made several Atlantic crossings to Londonderry, Ireland, doing convoy escort duty. Other assignments included escort to New England ports, as well as Anti-Submarine work in the St. Lawrence Gulf and Bermuda waters. Laurie left the Navy at war’s end for employment with N.S. Power Commission. He and his wife made their home in Middleton, NS, since his retirement in 1990. Submitted by Middleton Branch 001 of The Royal Canadian Legion. RAFUSE, Herbert Stanage WWI Herbert was born on September 26, 1896, and resided in Martin’s Point, NS. He enlisted with the 1st Depot Battatlion, Nova Scotia Regiment at Camp Aldershot on June 19, 1918. Submitted by Harding Branch 144 of The Royal Canadian Legion. RAFUSE, Sidney F. WWII Sidney was born in 1913. He lived in Chester Basin, NS, for most of his life, but presently lives in Lunenburg, NS, in the Veterans’Wing. Sidney served in the Royal Canadian Air Force, and is a member of Harding Branch 144 of The Royal Canadian Legion. Submitted by Harding Branch 144 of The Royal Canadian Legion. RAFUSE, Clayton WWII Clayton was born in Chester, NS, in 1937 and presently lives in Chester. He served with the Royal Canadian Navy in Canada from February 4, 1943 to October 19, 1945. Clayton is a member of Harding Branch 144 of The Royal Canadian Legion. Submitted by Harding Branch 144 of The Royal Canadian Legion. RAFUSE, Moyle B. WWII Moyle lived in Gold River, NS. He served in the Armed Forces from September 13, 1939 to January 7, 1945, during World War Two. Moyle was a member in good standing of Harding Branch 144 of The Royal Canadian Legion until his death.
