Nova Scotia/Nunavut Command of The Royal Canadian Legion www.ns.legion.ca 17 BLAKE, Kenneth William WWII In 1936, at the age of fourteen, Ken enlisted in the Royal Marines as a “Band Boy.” InAugust 1939, he joined HMS Delhi and served for two years in the Mediterranean. He served on HMS Orion until June 1944, where he took part in landings in NorthAfrica, Sicily, Salerno, Anzio and D-Day. In 1953, he transferred to the R.C.N. Ken was awarded the 1935-1945 Star, Atlantic Star, Africa Star, Africa Clasp, France & Germany Clasp, Italy Star, War Medal Long Service, Good Conduct Medal, Canadian Forces Decoration, and Centennial Medal. Following his thirty-five years of military service, Ken had a second career in the Dartmouth School System as a music teacher before finally retiring in 1986. Submitted by C. B. BLINN, Joseph Guillaume WWII Joseph was born in Grosses Coques, NS, on August 14, 1922 and served with the 29th Battery II Field Regiment in Canada, England and Italy. Submitted by Clare Branch 052 of The Royal Canadian Legion. BLOIS, Harry B. WWI Harry was born in Mount Uniacke, NS, in 1885. He served in France. Harry passed away in 1963. BLINN, Bernard Joseph WWII Joseph was born in Belliveau Cove, NS, in 1923 and served in the Army with Carleton York Regiment in Canada and England. Submitted by Clare Branch 052 of The Royal Canadian Legion. BLOIS, Duncan WWII Duncan was born in Mount Uniacke, NS, in 1922 and served with the North Nova Scotia Highlanders.
