He joined the R.C.A.F. in 1941 and served as a Rear Gunner in the UK, France and Germany, returning home in 1945. Frank was later an Officer Instructor of 517th Air Cadet Squadron as well as Band Administration Officer with the West Nova Scotia Regiment. He was a forty-seven-year member and Past President of Middleton Branch 001 of The Royal Canadian Legion. Frank passed away in 1993. Submitted by Middleton Branch 001 of The Royal Canadian Legion. WHITE, Malcolm E. WWII Malcolm was born in Kemptville, Yarmouth County, NS. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force and served in Europe. Malcolm is an overseas veteran. He served as a Flight Crew member from 1943-1945. He returned to Yarmouth County and worked as a woodsman. Submitted by Carleton Consolidated Branch 167 of The Royal Canadian Legion. WHYNACHT, Adolphus H. WWII Adolphus lives in Gold River, NS. He served with the North Nova Scotia Highlanders from June 19, 1940 to September 1, 1945. Submitted by Harding Branch 144 of The Royal Canadian Legion. WHEADON, Arden Douglas WWII Arden was born on November 11, 1925 in Truro, NS. He joined the military in February 1944 and took basic Training in New Market, ON. Arden then went to Camp Borden for further training as a Gunner Operator. He left for England in early December 1944 and was on a Crew Commander Course when VE Day was declared. He then signed up for the Pacific Theatre and was sent to Holland to join the 8th NB Hussars as reinforcement. In May 1945, Arden was on his way home for thirty days’ leave when VJ Day was declared on August 15, 1945. He was then sent to York Redoubt and remained there until his discharge in August 1946. Arden resides in Hilden, NS, and is a forty-four-year Life Member of Colchester Branch 026 of The Royal Canadian Legion. Submitted by Colchester Branch 026 of The Royal Canadian Legion.
