Nova Scotia/Nunavut Command of The Royal Canadian Legion www.ns.legion.ca 47 CURRIE (BAXTER), Kathleen “Kaye” WWII Kaye was born in Port Morien, NS, on June 25, 1919, the daughter of William and Elizabeth (Nolan) Currie. She served in Canada in the Canadian Women’s Army Corps as part of the military police. She was married to Henry Baxter of Donkin. Kaye passed away on May 8, 1957. Submitted by Port Morien Branch 055 of The Royal Canadian Legion. CURRIE, Lewis Luke WWII Lewis was the son of Walter and Claire Currie, and the husband of Mary Edith of Enfield, NS. He was the father of Alice, Margie andArthur. Lewis served with the Royal Canadian Infantry Corps. He passed away on Tuesday, July 4, 1944, at the age of 31 years. He is buried in Beny-sur-Mer in France. Submitted by Montgomery Branch 133 of The Royal Canadian Legion. DAWSON, Thomas Orien WWI Thomas was born on September 17, 1880 in Tryon, PEI. He belonged to the 82nd Regiment of the Active Militia and on November 20, 1915, he joined the Canadian Overseas Expeditionary Force. Thomas served with the 105th Battalion and with the 25th Battalion Royal Canadian Regiment. He was discharged in 1918 and passed away on June 14, 1940. Submitted by Colchester Branch 026 of The Royal Canadian Legion. CURRIE, Lawrence Joseph WWI Joseph was born in Chatham, NB, in 1901. He served with the C.O.S.E.F. #2 Draft, 12th Field Battery, C.F.A. Teamster in France, the UK, Canada and Belgium. He was wounded when a bomb exploded near his team wagon. He returned to Saint John, NB and was a labourer. He married and had two children. Lawrence passed away in 1969. Submitted by DonnaLee Butler. DAVIS, Ira R. WWII Ira was born in Bear River, NS, in 1918. He was in the Navy for seven years and took his basic training in Esquimalt, BC. His last voyage was on the HMCS Uganda. He took a Good Will tour from Vancouver around South America. He was a Life Member of Clementsport Branch 122 of The Royal Canadian Legion. Ira passed away in 1988.
