He joined the Canadian Army, 112th 25 Battalion in November 1915 and served in England and France. He was in Vimy Ridge, where he was gassed. He returned to Canada in September 1918 and was discharged after spending some time at Camp Hill. He had two sons, Carl and Leroy who served in World War Two. Ernie passed away in 1976. FEINDEL, Ronald Martin WWII Ronald was born in New Germany, NS, in 1918 and served with the West Nova Scotia Regiment in Canada and England. Submitted by New Germany Branch 102 of The Royal Canadian Legion. FIELDING, Russel Vernon WWII Russel was born on November 29, 1921 in Truro, NS. In July 1943, he joined the Army and was sent to No.6 Depot in Halifax. After Basic Training in Charlottetown, Russel went to Aldershot for Advanced Training. During the obstacle course phase, he injured his shoulder and after about six months, he was advised that he was “unfit for overseas service.” Russel was released from the military in February 1946, at the “end of demobilization.” He is a 40-year member of Colchester Branch 026 of The Royal Canadian Legion in Truro, where he still resides. For his wartime service, Russel received the Voluntary Service Medal and the War Medal. Submitted by Colchester Branch 026 of The Royal Canadian Legion. FEENER, Leroy O. WWII Leroy was born at Nictaux Fall, NS, on December 7, 1923. He joined the R.C.A.F. in December 1942 and served in Canada and Labrador. He was discharged in December 1945 and now lives in Nova Scotia. Submitted by Middleton Branch 001 of The Royal Canadian Legion. FENN, Ronald L. PEACETIME Ronald was born in Halifax, NS, in 1932, and presently lives in Western Shore, NS. He served with the Royal Canadian Navy in Canada from October 1950 to December 1972.
