She joined the Canadian Women’s Army Corps, R.C.R. and served in Canada until 1943. She now resides in a nursing home in Mississauga, ON. GAUDET, Ronald WWII Ronald was born in Tiveron, NS, on January 21, 1919. He joined the R.C.A.F. in 1941, and trained as a fighter pilot serving in the UK, Egypt, Belgium and Holland, before coming home in 1945. Ronald re-joined the military (army) in 1950 and served as a paratrooper and in the Signal Corps until 1969. He is a Past President and Life Member of Branch 091. He now resides in Hebron, NS. Submitted by Middleton Branch 001 of The Royal Canadian Legion. GAVEL, Glendon V. SPECIAL DUTY Glendon was born in Yarmouth, NS, in 1931. He served with the R.C.R. from 1950 to 1959, and with the Signals from 1959 to 1980. He served in Korea, Japan, Germany, Africa and Canada. Upon arrival in the Congo in 1960, he was badly beaten, resulting in a broken back, cracked ribs and multiple contusions. Submitted by Carleton Consolidated Branch 167 of The Royal Canadian Legion. GAUDET, Raymond WWII Raymond was born in Digby County, NS, in 1921. He joined the Merchant Navy and served on convoy duty from 1943 to 1945 in the North Atlantic. In January 1945, he enlisted in the Canadian Army, R.C.A., and later the R.C.A.S.C., retiring in 1968. He is a Life Member of The Royal Canadian Legion and has served in several Branches. He now lives in Middleton, NS. His father, Alphie, served in World War One, and brothers Joe and Gerald, and sister, Muriel, all served in World War Two. Submitted by Middleton Branch 001 of The Royal Canadian Legion. GAUL, Reginald R. “Reg” WWII Reg was born on February 15, 1921 at Lawrencetown, Annapolis County, NS. He joined the CanadianArmy, 3rdAnti-Tank Regiment in 1940 and served in the UK, Sicily, Belgium, Holland and Germany, returning home in 1946.
