He joined the R.C.A.F. in 1939 and graduated as a pilot in 1940. He flew Lysanders on the east coast of Canada until 1943 when he went overseas (two weeks after his marriage to his wife, Mary). Donald flew missions over Continental Europe and is credited with shooting down an enemy bomber. He returned home in October 1945 and resided in Middleton until his death in August 1994. WWII Raymond was born in Yarmouth, NS, in 1924, and served with the R.C.N.V.R. in Canada. He received the War and Volunteer Medals. Raymond passed away in 2006. GILLIS, Ivan Lloyd George WWII Ivan was born at Paradise, NS, in 1919. He joined the R.C.A.F. in 1939 and became a pilot. GLODE, Joseph Martin WWI Joseph was born in Bear River, NS, in May 1897. He served in Europe with the Canadian Expeditionary Force and was killed in 1916.
