He joined the Canadian Army Infantry Corps in 1917 and served in Europe. Submitted by Middleton Branch 001 of The Royal Canadian Legion. GOSSE, Gordon A. WWII Gordon was born at Halifax, NS, in May 1919. He joined the CanadianArmy, R.C.A.S.C., in 1943 and served in the UK and Germany, returning home in 1945. He now resides at the VAC in Middleton. Submitted by Middleton Branch 001 of The Royal Canadian Legion. GRANT, Angus Freeman KOREA Angus was born on August 6, 1928 in Middleton, NS. He joined the Canadian Army, Royal Canadian Regiment as a paratrooper in February 1949 and served in Korea. He received a special service medal. He has a sister, Daisy Harris, and two brothers, Murray and Harold who served in World War Two. Angus now resides in Coquitlam, BC, and is a member of Branch 133. Submitted by Middleton Branch 001 of The Royal Canadian Legion. GLODE, Samuel “Sam” WWI Sam was born in Milton, NS, in 1878. He joined the Canadian Army, Royal Canadian Engineers at the age of 37 and served in France and Belgium with the 6th Field Co. He was in the Vimy Ridge Campaign. He was awarded the Distinguished Conduct Medal. He came home from the war in 1919. Sam passed away at Camp Hill Veterans Hospital in 1957. Submitted by Middleton Branch 001 of The Royal Canadian Legion. GOUCHER, Irvin E. “Irv” WWII & PEACETIME Irv was born at Round Hill, NS, on January 8, 1926. He joined the CanadianArmy inApril 1942 and served in the UK, Sicily, Italy, Belgium, Holland and Germany, before returning home in 1945. He re-enlisted (Army) in 1951 and served an additional 24 years, retiring in August 1975. He served in Egypt and the Congo. He passed away on September 12, 2003.
