He joined the Canadian Army, West Nova Scotia Regiment in February 1943 and served in the UK, Sicily, Italy, France, Belgium and Holland. He was wounded in Italy. Harold came home in October 1945 and now resides in Ontario. Submitted by Middleton Branch 001 of The Royal Canadian Legion. GRANT, Murray John WWII Murray was born on May 25, 1923 in Middleton, NS. He joined the Canadian Army, West Nova Scotia Regiment in March 1942 and served in Halifax and Sydney. He was discharged in 1945, and now resides in Halifax. Submitted by Middleton Branch 001 of The Royal Canadian Legion. GRAY, Everette WWII Everette was born in Kemptville, Yarmouth County, NS. He served with the R.C.A.S.C. in Canada. He became ill while training in Camp Borden, ON, and passed away at Camp Hill on June 7, 1944. He is buried in Hatfield Memorial Cemetery in Kemptville, NS. Submitted by Carleton Consolidated Branch 167 of The Royal Canadian Legion. GRANT, Michael John WWII Michael was born onAugust 4, 1907 in Montreal, PQ. He enrolled in the Pictou Highlanders on July 29, 1940 in Mulgrave, NS. He left for England on March 25, 1944, and landed on April 2, 1944. He was with the 12th Canadian Brigade on April 22, 1944, then the North Nova’s on June 5, 1944, landing in France on June 12, 1944. He was assigned to the NSR 11th Battalion on July 4, 1944. He was with his cousin, Thomas Grant, on August 19, 1944 in Falaise, France when Thomas was killed in action. Michael also served in Belgium. He was discharged into civil life on October 13, 1945. He received the 1939-1945 Star, the France & Germany Star and the CVSM. Michael passed away on May 16, 1978. Submitted independently. GRANT, Thomas WWII Thomas is the son of Angus and Katie Grant of Thorburn, NS. He served as a Private with the North Shore (New Brunswick) Regiment, R.C.I.C. He was killed in action in Falaise, France on October 8, 1944, and is buried in the Bretteville-sur-Laize Canadian War Cemetery in France. Submitted independently.
