He joined the CanadianArmy, West Nova Scotia Regiment in 1940 and served in the UK, Italy, Sicily and NW Europe. He returned home from the war in 1945, and passed away in 1973. He enlisted with the Canadian Overseas Expeditionary Force on February 29, 1916. Submitted by Harding Branch 144 of The Royal Canadian Legion. HAWBOLDT, Burton WWII Burton was born in Pine Tree, NS, in 1920 and resided in Trenton, NS, until his passing in 1997. Burton served with the Royal Canadian Army Artillery from 1940-1945 and saw active duty in England, France, Belgium, Holland and Germany. He was a member for many years with the New Glasgow Branch 34 of The Royal Canadian Legion. He was also a recipient of Life Membership of the Branch. Burton was an active member of the Overseas War Veterans Association and the Men’s Artillery Association. Submitted independently. HARRIS, Walter WWII Walter was born on July 29, 1923 in East Margaretsville, NS. He joined the Royal Canadian Navy in 1943 and served on convoy duty on the North Atlantic. He was discharged on January 17, 1946 and returned home. He passed away in January 2005. Submitted by Middleton Branch 001 of The Royal Canadian Legion. HATT, William Alfred WWI William was born on August 4, 1898 and resided in Gold River, NS. He enlisted with the Canadian Overseas Expeditionary Force on May 20, 1919.
