Nova Scotia/Nunavut Command of The Royal Canadian Legion www.ns.legion.ca 113 HOGAN, Clyde John WWII Clyde was born in Upper Granville, Annapolis County, NS, in 1920 and enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force in August of 1941. He trained in Guelph, ON, and received his wings at Mont Joli, Quebec, in June 1942. He remained in Canada until December 1943, when he went overseas for further training. He was attached to a Royal Air Force Bomber Squadron at Dishforth Airbases on October 2, 1944. When returning from a mission, Clyde and four other crew members were killed when their Halifax Bomber crashed not far from their Dishforth Home Base. Clyde was buried beside the four other crew members at Stone Fall Cemetery, Harrogate, Yorkshire, England. Submitted by the Nova Scotia/Nunavut Command of The Royal Canadian Legion. HOGAN, Gordon Parker WWII Gordon was born in Upper Granville, Annapolis County, NS, in 1923 and enlisted in the Army with the RCA Princess Louise Fusiliers in July 1940 training in different locations in Canada before going overseas in November 1942. He served in England, France, Italy, Belgium, Germany and Holland. For his service, he was awarded the 1939-45 Star, Italy Star, France and Germany Star, Holland Medal, Defence Medal, and the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp. In December 1945, he returned to Canada and was discharged. In 1949, Gordon accepted a position with the Federal Government Meteorological Service in Halifax. In 1957, he was transferred to the Goose Bay, Labrador Weather Office, he then returned to Halifax International Airport Weather Office in 1960 until his retirement. HOLLAND, Pearlie Harris WWII Pearlie was born in Meisners Section in 1919. He enlisted in the No. 6 District Depot on June 28, 1941. He served active duty with the Canadian Army Service Corps, 3rd Canadian Division in the United Kingdom and Continental Europe. Pearlie received awards such as the 1939-1945 Star, the France-Germany Star, the Defence Medal and the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp. He was a member of New Germany Branch #102 of The Royal Canadian Legion, where he also served as President. Pearlie passed away on October 1, 1998. HOGAN, William Everett WWII William was born in Upper Granville, Annapolis County, NS, in 1925 and enlisted in the Army, RCA North Shore Regiment (NB) in 1942 and was transferred immediately to England for further training. He served in England, France, Belgium, Italy, Germany and Holland. He returned to Canada and was discharged in late 1945. After a couple of years in Nova Scotia, he went to Ontario and later to the Vancouver area. William passed away in 2005 in Vancouver.
