Nova Scotia/Nunavut Command of The Royal Canadian Legion www.ns.legion.ca 123 JOHNSON, James Oliver WWI &WWII Oliver, son of Arthur and Margaret (Creelman) Johnson of Newton Mills, was born in 1894 and served in both WWI and WWII. He saw duty in Canada, England and France with the Royal Canadian Regiment in WWII. He made his home in Edmonton, AB. James passed away in 1981. Submitted by the Stewiacke Valley Historical Society. JOHNSON, John Munroe WWII John, son of Warren and Catherine (Morris) Johnson of Newton Mills, was born in 1913 and enlisted in the RCAF and trained as a Fire Fighter serving in Canada. When he returned to civilian life, he became a founding member of the Upper Stewiacke Volunteer Fire Brigade and served as its chief for 18 years. He married Viola Jane Brown of Upper Musquodoboit and lived in Newton Mills as a carpenter. He passed away in 1999. Submitted by the Stewiacke Valley Historical Society. JOHNSON, Paul WWII Paul, son of James and Melissa (Graham) Johnson of Pembroke, was born in 1900 and went to the United States as a young man, then returned home and enlisted for service in WWII serving overseas. Paul married Nellie Hanson of England. She came over as a war bride and they settled in Pembroke, after moving to Greenfield, NS. Paul passed away in 1984. JOHNSON, John Myron WWI Myron, son of Arthur and Margaret (Creelman) Johnson of Newton Mills, was born in 1891 and served with the 64th Battalion. He married Lillian Marguerite Henry of Upper Musquodoboit and lived in Wolfville, NS, where he owned and operated Johnson’s Taxi. Myron passed away in 1983.
