Nova Scotia/Nunavut Command of The Royal Canadian Legion www.ns.legion.ca 137 MacDONALD, Lewis George WWII Lewis, of Grand Lake, Halifax County, NS, enlisted on August 13, 1940, at the age of 40, in the RCOC as a mechanic and trained at #6 Depot in Halifax and then went to Aldershot and Debert, NS. Lewis was attached to the North Nova Scotia Highlanders and went overseas in July 1941 to Southern England, where he remained until the war was over. He came home on September 6, 1945. He passed away on July 25, 1972 from MS. Submitted by the Dieppe Branch #090 of The Royal Canadian Legion. MacDONALD, Reid Lewis Frederick PEACETIME Reid joined the Army as an infantryman with the RCRS in London, ON, and took his basic training in Cornwallis, NS, then to Gagetown, NB. He was posted to London, ON, until in 1978, when he joined the RCAF and was sent to Edmonton, AB. He also served in Summerside, PEI, Greenwood, NS, Trenton, ON, then back to Greenwood until he retired. Reid was a refinisher mainly on helicopter blades and he distinguished himself across Canada, USA, and overseas. Reid is a grandson of Sgt. Frederick MacDonald. MacDONALD, William Reid PEACETIME William was in the reserves in his high school years and then spent seven years in the Army at Gagetown, NB, and has been in Cold Lake, AB, for six years now and is still there. William is an Aironic Technician and is a great-grandson of Sgt. Frederick MacDonald, son of Sgt. Reid MacDonald, and grandson of Sapper William MacDonald. MacDONALD, William Frederick WWII William joined the Army and took his basic training in Petawawa, ON, and was assigned to the Royal Canadian Engineers and sent overseas to England. His service was cut short because of a bicycle accident where he broke his neck and was sent home in a full-body cast on the hospital ship Lady Nelson, where he recovered and was given a medical discharge. William was the son of Sgt. Frederick MacDonald and passed away on May 3, 1996. Submitted by the Dieppe Branch #090 of The Royal Canadian Legion.
