After the war, he married Florence Letitia Boomer of Brookfield and settled there as a carpenter. He passed away in 1981. Submitted by the Stewiacke Valley Historical Society. McLEAN, Robert William WWII Robert was born April 9, 1924, in North Brookfield, Queens County, and joined the Army in 1945 at age 21. He had his basic training at Aldershot, NS, and served in England in the Military Police. He received the Volunteer Service Medal and the 1939-45 Star. He has been an active member of A. L. MEGENEY, Ronald Kevin AFGHANISTAN Corporal Ronald Kevin Megeney (1983 - March 06, 2007) age 24 from New Glasgow, Nova Scotia. Served with the 1st Battalion, Nova Scotia Highlanders (North). Kevin joined the Nova Scotia Highlanders as a reservist at age 17, training in Pictou, Halifax, CFB Aldershot, and CFB Wainwright. He also trained with the U.S. Marines in February of 2004. He was killed at Kandahar Airfield, Afghanistan after sustaining a gunshot to the chest. Submitted by Nova Scotia/Nunavut Command of The Royal Canadian Legion. McPHAIL, Wourtle Emery WWII Wourtle was born in the Magdalen Islands, Quebec, in 1908. He served in the Army in Newfoundland from 1939-45. He was a Life Member of Westside Branch #126 of The Royal Canadian Legion. He passed away in 1991.
