Nova Scotia/Nunavut Command of The Royal Canadian Legion www.ns.legion.ca 169 PUTNAM, David Flemming WWII David, son of Robie Flemming and Pollie (Upton) Putnam of Middle Stewiacke, was born in 1917, and joined the RCAF in 1940, serving both in Canada and overseas. David married Norma Louise McKeen of Musquodoboit, and settled in McLures Mills, near Truro. He passed away in 1972. Submitted by the Stewiacke Valley Historical Society. PUTNAM, Lena Margaret WWII Lena, daughter of Robie Flemming and Pollie (Upton) Putnam of Middle Stewiacke, was born in 1922, and joined the RCAF, Women’s Division as a transport driver. She took her basic training in Toronto, followed by postings at Toronto and Torbay, NL. After the war, she married J. William Swan and lived in Halifax. She passed away in 2006. RAMSAY, Howard Anthony WWII Howard was born in West Dalhousie, NS, and joined the CanadianArmy 3rd Medium Regiment in 1939 and served in France, Germany and Holland, returning home in 1945. He was a 42-year member of Branch 21. Howard passed away on April 29, 2000, at the age of 88. Submitted by Middleton Branch #001 of The Royal Canadian Legion. RAMSAY, Arthur St. Clair WWII Arthur was born in West Dalhousie, NS. He joined the Canadian Army in 1939 and served in France, Germany and Holland, returning home in 1945. He was a member of Clementsport Branch #122 of The Royal Canadian Legion. Arthur passed away on October 22, 1972, at the age of 55. Submitted by Middleton Branch #001 of The Royal Canadian Legion.
