WWII KOREA& SPECIALDUTYAREA Joseph was born in Halifax, NS, in 1926, and joined the RCAF & CAF serving in England from 1944-1946, Japan from 1950-1953, Germany from 1953-1954 (NATO) and the Canadian Bases. He received the Defence Medal, Canadian Volunteer Medal & Clasp, the 1939-45 War Medal, the UNSM, the Korean Volunteer 1950-53, the CPKSM, DHH, the Special Service Medal, the CF & Clasp. He retired as Warrant Officer and has been a member of the Calais Branch #162 of The Royal Canadian Legion for the past 35 years. Submitted by Calais Branch #162 of The Royal Canadian Legion. REEVES, Herbert WWI Herbert was a 29-year-old builder from Mahone Bay when he joined the CEF on September 23, 1914, at Val Cartier, Quebec. He would have been amongst the first contingent that left Canada for England in late October of 1914 and went to “the front” in March 1915 as a member of ‘C’ Company of the 8th Battalion (the 90th Winnipeg Rifles, a.k.a. the “Little Black Devils”). Herbert was reported missing on September 26, 1916, at the battle for Courcelette. He is memorialized on the Vimy Memorial in France. Submitted by Mahone Bay Branch #049 of The Royal Canadian Legion. REID, Parker MacQuarrie WWII & KOREA Parker, son of Dougald and Sarah Marjorie (MacQuarrie) Reid, was born in 1925. He served both in WWII and the Korean War in England, Europe, Canada, USA and Korea. He lived most of his life in the Newton Mills area, working locally.
