Nova Scotia/Nunavut Command of The Royal Canadian Legion www.ns.legion.ca 193 SUTHERLAND, Donald Charles WWII Donald, son of Dr. Stockely and Kathleen Mary (Partridge) Sutherland of Middle Stewiacke, was born in 1926. He joined the 52nd Battery, 1st Halifax Coast Brigade when he was 15 years old, claiming to be of legal age. On September 22, 1944, at the age of 18, he was killed in action in Holland and was buried at Bergen-op-Zoom Canadian War Cemetery, Netherlands. Submitted by the Stewiacke Valley Historical Society. TAYLOR, George WWII George, son of Rufus and Elizabeth (Gourley) Taylor of Meadowvale, was born in 1919, and joined the Prince Edward Island Highlanders. He served in Newfoundland before going overseas. He married Winnifred McLean of Cardigan, PEI, and they lived in Ontario. Submitted by the Stewiacke Valley Historical Society. TAYLOR, Reuben Dewitt WWI Reuben, son of Elmira Taylor of Goshen, was born in 1893. He enlisted with the 193rd Battalion and transferred to the 85th Battalion in 1917. Reuben was wounded in 1917 at Len. After the war, he moved to the United States and at the time of his death in 1925, he was residing in Sommerville, Massachusetts. TAYLOR, Hugh Morris WWII Hugh, son of Rufus and Elizabeth (Gourley) Taylor of Meadowvale, was born in 1914, and served overseas with the Royal Canadian Artillery. He married Alma Miller, daughter of Ashmore and Nellie (Wright) Miller of Meadowvale. After the war, he returned to Meadowvale, where he farmed and worked in the woods. Hugh passed away in 1982.
