Military Service Recognition Booklet 202 WASSON, Marion V. WWII Marion was born in New Salem, NS, in 1925, and joined the Merchant Marine in 1944. Earlier in the war, she worked at Canada Car in Amherst helping to make Mosquito Dive Bombers. She married her husband, Ralph, and sailed with him and worked on the MV Ralph and Arthur as a steward. She was part of a seven-man crew, which included her husband, Ralph, her father and mother-in-law, and her bother-in-law. She received the 1939-45 Star, the CVSM and the 1939-45 Medal. Submitted by Marion Wasson. WASSON, Ralph WWII Ralph was a Chief Engineer onboard the MV Ralph and Arthur and served in the Atlantic. He received the 1939-45 Star, the Atlantic Star the CVSM and the 193945 War Medal. Ralph passed away in 2002. Submitted by Marion Wasson. WEAGLE, Raymond Joseph WWII Raymond was born on October 6, 1923, and joined at the #6 Depot in Halifax in 1943 and trained in Dundern, SK, then joining the 4th Princess Louise Dragoon Guards as Reconnaissance spending six months in England, then to France, Belgium. He participated in the liberation of Holland, then to Germany ending with a year of occupation there working for the Salvation Army and returning home in July 1946. WEARE, Leander Spurgeon WWII Leander was born onAugust 21, 1912, in New Grafton, Queens County, and enlisted in Yarmouth in November 1942 serving in Canada, the United Kingdom and Continental Europe. He returned to civilian life on demobilization and received the 1939-45 Star, France-Germany Star and the CVSM and Clasp. He was member of A. L.
