Military Service Recognition Booklet 204 WHIDDEN, Thomas Harry WWI Harry, son of Thomas Campbell (Cam) and Blanche (Inglehut) Whidden of Springfield, was born in 1896, and enlisted in 1917 and served in France, Germany and Belgium. Wounded in battle, he suffered the effects of it for years. After the war, he lived on his home place at Smithfield and then moved to Murray Siding, near Truro. Harry passed away in 1968. Submitted by the Stewiacke Valley Historical Society. WHITE, Trafton WWII Trafton was born in 1925 in Yarmouth County. He joined the Merchant Marines, serving in the North Atlantic. WOODFIELD, Braun Scott AFGHANISTAN Private Braun Scott Woodfield (Jan 03, 1981 – Nov 24 2005). Born in Victoria, BC, in 1981 and raised in Eastern Passage, NS. Joined the Canadian Army in 2003 and served with 2nd Battalion, Royal Canadian Regiment stationed in Gagetown, NB. He was killed when the armoured vehicle he was riding in rolled over northeast of Kandahar. Braun had a large red maple leaf tattoo on his shoulder and would joke with family and friends – “Made in Canada.” Submitted by Nova Scotia/Nunavut Command of The Royal Canadian Legion. WILLIAMS, Bernice PEACETIME Bernice was born in Halifax, NS, in 1925 and joined the RCCS and CWAC serving in Canada and has been a member of the Calais Branch #162 of The Royal Canadian Legion for 35 years.
