Nova Scotia/Nunavut Command of The Royal Canadian Legion www.ns.legion.ca 205 YOUNG, Clayton Foster WWI Clayton, son of Joseph and Mittie (Foster) Young of Upper Stewiacke, was born in 1897, and joined the 85th Battalion in 1915 and spent some time in France. In 1917, he was promoted to Lance Corporal but left the unit due to sickness that same year. After the war, he went to the United States and became very successful in real estate. At the time of his death in 1985, he was living in Phoenix, Arizona. Submitted by the Stewiacke Valley Historical Society. YOUNG, James Albert WWI James, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Young, and grandson of James and Margaret (Dawson) Young of Berry Hill, was born in Upper Stewiacke in 1887. His mother died early and he was brought up by his grandparents on Berry Hill. He served overseas for two years. After the war he settled in the Annapolis Valley and became operator of the Berwick Hydro-Electric Plant. He and his wife, Ella, lived at Factorydale, Kings County. James passed away in 1939.
