Nova Scotia/Nunavut Command of The Royal Canadian Legion www.ns.legion.ca 41 COX, Andrew Thomas WWI Andrew, son of Samuel Cumminger andAnna Maude (Dean) Cox, was born in 1898 in Upper Musquodoboit, then later moved to Newton Mills. His attestation paper states that he was in the Active Militia at Fort Ogilvie in Halifax, becoming a member of the Canadian Expeditionary Force in 1918. In later years, he lived in Florida. Submitted by the Stewiacke Valley Historical Society. COX, Daniel Graham WWII Daniel, son of Samuel G. and Machala (Graham) Cox of Eastville, was born in 1904. Before the war, he taught school and worked in the ice business in Boston. In 1931, he married Doris Mae Packard of Massachusetts and joined the RCAF in 1939 and was discharged in 1945. After the war, he worked for the National Fish Company, Maple Dairy and the Department of National Defence. He retired in 1970 to his home place in Eastville and served as municipal councillor for the area for a time. He passed away in 1998. Submitted by the Stewiacke Valley Historical Society. COX, Frank Brown WWI Frank, son of Henry P. and Mary Ellen (Brown) Cox of Berry Hill, was born in 1897. He was called up in 1917 and trained at Camp Aldershot. After the war, he and his parents moved to Upper Stewiacke Village where he farmed and also built and operated a successful garage and store. He married Florence Evelyn (Love) Searle. Frank passed away in 1948. Submitted by the Stewiacke Valley Historical Society. COX, Ernest William WWI Ernest, son of Samuel Cumminger and Anna Maude (Dean) Cox of Upper Musquodoboit and Newton Mills, was born in 1901 and served at Fort Ogilvie in Halifax in the Active Militia, and like his brother, became a member of the CEF in June 1918. In later years, he lived in Truro. Submitted by the Stewiacke Valley Historical Society.
