SPECIALDUTY James was born in New Glasgow, NS, in 1935 and served with the 1st Battalion Black Watch/RCASC in Germany, Cyprus, Egypt and Brussels. Jim is a Life Meritorious with clasp of The Royal Canadian Legion and has served as President, Past President, 1st, 2nd, 3rd Vice-President, Poppy Chairman, Sick and Visiting Committee, Bar, and Trustees/Property, along with years of volunteering in many areas. DEVEAU, Frank KOREA& SPECIALDUTYAREA Frank was born in 1932 and joined the Canadian Army serving in Korea from 1952-53, Norad from 1960-64, Cyprus in 1967 and Germany (NATO) 196770/1981-87. Frank has been a member of the Calais Branch #162 of The Royal Canadian Legion for the past 22 years. Submitted by Calais Branch #162 of The Royal Canadian Legion. DEVINE, Joseph Madie “Andy” WWII Andy, as he is often known, was born in Joggins, NS, in 1923, the son of Henry and Sadie (Hebert) Devine. He was still in school when WWII broke out and he enlisted with the 2nd Division serving in Holland, Belgium and Germany. After the war ended, he remained in Germany with the occupational forces for a year. Returning to Nova Scotia, he worked with the Amherst Police Department and later with the CNR Police. He has lived in Middle Stewiacke since the 1950’s. Submitted by the Stewiacke Valley Historical Society. DEVEAU, Nelson KOREA Nelson was born in Digby, NS, and enlisted with the RCASC (1951-1974) serving in Canada, Korea and Germany. He retired from the Forces in 1974 and settled in Yarmouth County, where he ran a catering business. He lives in Wellington, Yarmouth County, and is a Charter Member of Carleton Consolidated Branch #167 of The Royal Canadian Legion.
