SPECIALDUTYAREA Ronald was born in Montreal, Quebec, in 1929, and served on the HMCS Donnaconna, Montreal, the HMCS Cornwallis, the HMCS Huron, the HMCS Magnificent, the HMCS Haida, HMCS Digby driving unit, Admiral Bidwell’s Barge, HMCS Fort Erie, HMCS Quebec, HMCS Labrador, HMCS Esquimalt and HMCS Algonguin in Canada and on the High Seas. He received the CD and Minister of Veterans Affairs Commendation. Ronald is a Life Member of Port Royal Branch #021 of The Royal Canadian Legion. Submitted by Digby Branch #020 of The Royal Canadian Legion. ELLIS, Hugh Dennison WWI Hugh, born in 1888, was the son of Willard andAnnie West (Dean) Ellis of Eastville. He was a clerk before enlisting in the Army as a driver. After the war, he helped his father operate a business in Truro. Hugh died suddenly in 1934, while hunting in the Eastville area. Hugh did not marry. Submitted by the Stewiacke Valley Historical Society. FALK, Henry PEACETIME Henry was born in British Columbia in 1936, and joined the Air Force as a Communications Technician serving in British Columbia, Manitoba, Ontario, Quebec and Nova Scotia. Hank has served as Secretary-Treasurer and President of The Royal Canadian Legion Loyalist Branch #063. He’s presently on the Executive Committee and serves as Service Officer as well as Kitchen Chairperson. Hank now resides in Birchtown and is a member of The Legion in good standing. Submitted by Shelburne Branch #063 of The Royal Canadian Legion. ELLIS, Marion Dean WWI Marion was born in Eastville in 1885, daughter of Willard and Annie West (Dean) Ellis. She went to the Boston area and trained as a Registered Nurse. She nursed in England and then enlisted as a Nursing Sister during WWI. Marion retired to Rochester, New York, in 1944 and passed away there in 1967. Submitted by the Stewiacke Valley Historical Society.
