Nova Scotia/Nunavut Command of The Royal Canadian Legion www.ns.legion.ca 87 FREEMAN, Dolan PEACEKEEPING Dolan grew up in the community of Greenfield, Queens County. He enlisted in the Canadian Armed Forces at the age of 18 in March 1952 and was a member of the Royal Canadian Army Service Corps for four years. During this time, he was stationed with occupation forces in Zoest, Germany. After returning to Canada, Dolan spent four years as a civilian before enlisting in the Royal CanadianAir Force. He completed training as anAir Frame Technician and graduated second in his class. He was then posted to CFB Greenwood, where he spent the next ten years working on Argus aircraft. Dolan currently resides in Kingston, ON, with his wife, Emily. Submitted by A. L. Patterson Branch #087 of The Royal Canadian Legion. FULTON, Charles Russell WWI Charles, son of Lewis and Laura (Higgins) Fulton of Pembroke, was born in 1896. He was a farmer before signing up with the Halifax Rifles in 1915, and advanced to the rank of Corporal. After the war, he joined the Halifax Police Force. While on duty with the force in 1924, he was fatally shot while pursuing a gangster on the streets of Halifax. He had married Pearl Hartling, who died in 2005 at the age of 109. Submitted by the Stewiacke Valley Historical Society. FULTON, David Holmes WWII David was born in Cross Roads, Upper Stewiacke in 1923, son of David (Pat) and Georgina (Dickie) Fulton. He enlisted in the RCAF and completed his electrician course with the RCZAF at St. Thomas, ON. He was stationed in British Columbia before going overseas to England and North Africa. After the war, he went to California and settled in Lake Arrowhead. He did not marry and worked for the Southern California Edison Company until retirement. David passed away in 1992. Submitted by the Stewiacke Valley Historical Society. FULTON, Chester Clarence WWI Chester, son of Frank and Teresa (Archibald) Fulton of Pembroke, was born in 1894. He was a tinsmith by trade and enlisted with the 85th Battalion in 1915. After the war, he lived in Truro where he worked with C. F. Cox Company making stovepipes. Chester did not marry and passed away in 1946. Submitted by the Stewiacke Valley Historical Society.
