WWII Abraham was born in Charlos Cove, NS on April 23, 1904, the son of the late Abraham and Martha (Levangie) Gerrior and joined the Merchant Navy. He married Julia Jane Pellerine and had 5 daughters. Abraham passed away on August 29, 1985 in the Dartmouth General hospital and is buried in St. Joseph’s Cemetery, Charlos Cove, NS. GERRIOR, John Sylvester WWII John was born in Larry’s River, NS in 1914 and joined the army and was stationed at Halifax for a number of years. He was accepted for advanced training and stationed in Utopia, NB returning on weekends for two years. He returned to Halifax, still in the armed services and worked in the shoe shop at the back of the Halifax Forum at Windsor Park # 6 Depot. After completing his term in the army, he became an entrepreneur establishing a very successful shoe making and repair business. He raised a family of five girls and 4 boys through long hours of hard work with the help of his wife, the former Mary Beatrice Fougere. John passed away on January 8, 1996. Submitted by the Torbay Branch #117 of The Royal Canadian Legion. GERRIOR, Thomas Daniel WWII Tom was born in Larry’s River, NS in 1903 to the late Jeffrey and Annie (Fougere) Gerrior. He was stationed in the U.S. Army Camp Devon, Ayer, Mass. in the mid 20’s and was a Veteran of the Royal Canadian Army Medical Corps, 1941-1946 serving in Canada, Britain, Northeast Europe, France, Belgium, Germany and Holland. He was a resident artist, painter and interior decorator also a very talented musician and played for many dances and other functions. He was also known for his great cooking. Tom passed away on October 24, 1991 and is buried in St. Peter’s Cemetery, Larry’s River, NS. Tom will always be remembered and respected for his years of service. Submitted by the Torbay Branch #117 of The Royal Canadian Legion. GERRIOR, Simon J. WWII Simon was born in Lundy, NS on October 18, 1921 to the late Alexander and Angeline (Avery) Gerrior. He served with the Nova Scotia Highlanders Regiment from 1940 to 1946. For 40 years Simon worked for the City of Halifax, National Sea Products and the Department of Lands and Forest in Guysborough. Upon his retirement in 1980 he moved to Donahue Lake where he enjoyed fishing and hunting with his grandchildren. He married Alice C. DeYoung and had a daughter and four sons. Simon passed away on February 20, 2002 after a brief but courageous battle with cancer. He will always be remembered and respected for his years of service.
