Nova Scotia/Nunavut Command of The Royal Canadian Legion www.ns.legion.ca 119 HIGGINS, Roy Arnold WWI Roy was born in Higginsville, NS in 1897 and joined the Army. He passed away in 1981. Submitted independently. HILL, Ernest Glenmore WWII Ernest was born in Pt Edward, CB, NS in 1919 and joined the North Nova Scotia Highlanders serving in the UK and France. He landed on D-Day and was killed on July 25, 1944 as part of operation “Spring” and is buried at Bretteville sur Laize Canadian War Cemetery, France. Submitted independently. HOLDRIGHT, Glenford Neily WWII Neily was born on May 31, 1921 and enlisted in the infantry and trained in Yarmouth. He later was sent with the Brockville Rifles. He was married to Marie Rawding on July 18, 1944 and left for Jamaica on July 22. He died on September 22, 1944 in Jamaica and is buried there. Neily received a Silver Bar from the Department of Defence, one Overseas Bar1939, Canada 1945 Voluntary Service and the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal. Submitted by the A.L. HOBEN, Thomas William WWI Thomas enlisted with the 64th Battalion “King’s Own” on September 26, 1915 and proceeded to the training camp and there a limited number of volunteers were called for to proceed immediately overseas in a draft. He succeeded in reaching England that same fall that he enlisted and was put in charge of the cooking for his battalion. He reached France on August 11, 1916 and was there until the close of the war.
