PEACETIME John was born in Amherest Burg, ON on August 23, 1938 and joined the Navy in 1956 and had 2 years training in HMCS Venture Officer Training Establishment and graduated in 1958. He was 2 years with US Navy for flight training in NAS Pensacola, NAS Kingsville and aircraft carrier SS Anteitam. He trained for in Shearwater for helicopter flying and was in the H.U. Helicopter Squadron flying search and rescue. He spent 2 years at Cornwallis in administration and got retested for flying and was grounded for medical reasons. He retired in 1964. He married Margaret Johnston in 1962 and raises two sons. He graduated form the NS College of Art and Design in Halifax in 1972 and has been producing handcrafted pottery under the name Turnstone Pottery. PARSONS, Herbert Allister WWII Herbert was born in Glace Bay, NS in 1925 and joined the West Nova Scotia Regiment serving in Italy, Malta and North Africa. He was a member of Branch #003 of The Royal Canadian Legion. Herbert received the 1939-45 Star, the Italy Star, the Defence Medal, the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal & Clasp and the 1939-45 War Medal. He passed away in 1988. PEITZSCHE, George Clark WWII George was born in Goldboro, NS on October 21, 1915 to James Meadows and Bernice Chetwyn (Giffin) Peitzsche and joined the RCAF and served in Canada and overseas. He married Garnitta Silver and had one son, David Lloyd, 1956-1998. George was a member of the Arras Branch #59. He passed away on March 9, 2006. PAUPIN, Leon Pierre WWII Leon was born in west Arichat, NS on October 30, 1916 and joined the Princess Louise Fusiliers at age 26 on July 2, 1942 and worked as a cook serving in Canada. He was discharged on January 14, 1946. Leon passed away in Straight Richmond Hospital on November 2, 2007 at age 91. He received the 1939-45 War Medal and the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal & Bar.
