Nova Scotia/Nunavut Command of The Royal Canadian Legion www.ns.legion.ca 161 PELLERIN, Howard WWII Howard was born in Larry’s River, NS and joined the Royal Canadian Navy in 1941 serving on the Triangle Run (escort corps) from Halifax to Newfoundland to New York. After his discharge he moved to the United States and marriedAdele McGrath and raised two children. Howard passed away on August 7, 1986. He will always be remembered and respected for his years of service. Submitted by the Torbay Branch #117 of The Royal Canadian Legion. PELLERIN, Jerome E. WWII Jerome was born in Larry’s River, NS in 1905 and joined the Canadian Army Medical Corps in 1940. After medical training at Toronto General Hospital he was posted to Cogswell Street hospital in Halifax, where he remained for the duration of the war. He was discharged in 1946 with the rank of Staff Sergeant and returned to Larry’s River where he built a home for his parents. Jerome was a Chartered Member of the Torbay Branch #117, and was manager of the Larry’s River Co-op store until 1953, and then a shipper for Robinson Hardware in Halifax until 1955. He then immigrated to the United States where he remained until his death in 1990 at the age of 85. He will always be remembered and respected for his years of service. PELLERIN, Joseph “Josie” WWII Josie was born in Larry’s River, NS and joined the Royal Canadian Navy in 1942 and was stationed in Halifax. He was discharged in 1945 and lived in Montreal, the United States and returned to Larry’s River after his retirement. He was a very active member of the Torbay Branch #117. Josie married Ketty Cahill of PEI and raised two children. He passed away in 1982. He will always be remembered and respected for his years of service. PELLERIN, John Luke WWII John was born in Larry’s River, NS on March 10, 1921 and enlisted in the Pictou Highlanders in 1940 and was sent overseas with the Royal Canadian Engineers in 1943 and remained in Europe until 1946. John was a Chartered Member of the Torbay Branch #117 and held numerous positions. He was involved in the Co-op Movement in the late 40’s and was assistant manager of the Torbay Canning Company in the late 40’s and 50’s. He was also employed for many years with the Hydrographic survey until his retirement. John was a warden of the St. Peter’s Parish, and served on the board of directors of the Larry’s River Credit Union. He passed away on November 7, 1991 at the age of 70.
