Nova Scotia/Nunavut Command of The Royal Canadian Legion www.ns.legion.ca 167 PETTIPAS, Fordie Wilfred WWII Fordie was born in Charlos Cove, NS on April 30, 1920 and enlisted in the Canadian Army in 1942 in New Glasgow, NS and was transferred in 1944 to Aldershot and was discharged in 1946 due to medical reasons. He married in 1942 to Dorothy Boudreau of Port Felix and had two children. He was a fisherman most of his working life and was also employed as highway foreman and an oiler for Texaco Canada. Fordie was a very active Chartered Member until his death in 1986. Submitted by the Torbay Branch #117 of The Royal Canadian Legion. PIERCE, Leslie J. WWII Leslie was born in 1927 and joined the Field Artillery, CAF serving on the High Seas. He was a Life Member of the Digby Branch #020 for 32 years. He passed away in 2005. PIERS, Bert Winston WWII Bert was born in Pugwash, NS in 1924 and joined the Army (active) at Halifax, NS on November 1, 1943 and went to Yarmouth for training and to Woodstock, Ontario for driver training on the Bren Gun Carrier and then to London, Ontario for a mechanic course. He served in England, France, Belgium, Holland and Germany. He was wounded in Germany and was hospitalized and then transferred to the North Novas and went to Germany for the occupation. He was demobilized on July 23, 1946 and worked as a truck driver and then moved to Ontario. He received the France/Germany Star and the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal & Clasp. Bert is a member of Branch # 116 Sir Arthur Currie for the past 23 years. Submitted by the St. Margaret’s Bay Branch #116 of The Royal Canadian Legion. PIERS, Arnold Amos WWII Arnold was born in Pugwash, NS in 1924 and joined the North Nova’s in 1939 and served in Canada, France, Germany and Holland. After returning home he worked as a carpenter and later moved to Ontario and was employed at a knitting mill for many years. Arnold passed away in 2004. Submitted independently.
