KOREA Freddie was born in Petit de Grat, NS in 1930 and joined the Royal Canadian Army Service Corps sailing to Korea on the Gen S.S. Bellow. He received the Korea Medal-Canada, the Korea Volunteer Service Medal and the Korean Medal-UN. Freddie passed away in 1973. Submitted by the Isle Madame Branch #150 of The Royal Canadian Legion. SANGSTER, Archibald WWII Archie was born in New Harbour, NS and joined the Canadian Army in Yarmouth on October 22, 1942 and served with the Cape Breton Highlanders. He received the 1939-45 Star, the Italy Star, the France/Germany Star, the Defence Medal and the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal & Clasp. He was honourably discharged on March 20, 1946. Archie was a kind spirited gentleman who always participated in the Remembrance Day ceremonies at Torbay Branch #117 where he was a member. He passed away in 2000. SANGSTER, Harry Lawson WWII Harry was born in New Harbour, NS in 1924 to the late Milton and Gladys (Ryter) Sangster. He joined the Army and did his basic training in Aldershot, NS on November 4, 1943. He was trained as a rifleman and Canadian Driving and Maintenance School in Ontario. He was discharged on March 14, 1945. Harry was a member of Guysborough Branch #081 and was a self-employed master boat builder until his retirement at which time he continued his art of wood craftsmanship. He was married to the former Ida Mae Leola Wright and raised 1 son and 2 daughters. Harry passed away on December 25, 2005 and is buried in Riverside Cemetery, New Harbour, NS. SANGSTER, Floyd Murdock WWII Floyd was born in New Harbour, NS on May 4, 1917 to the late Walter M. and Loretta (McKeil) Sangster and joined the Army with #6 District Depot C.A. Halifax on May 18, 1942 serving in Canada, the UK and Continental Europe, Holland, Belgium and France. He was discharged on February 19, 1946. He married the former Elva Wright on May 6, 1950 and raised three sons and one daughter. Floyd was employed with the Department of Transportation. He passed away on August 29, 1984 and is buried in the New Harbour Cemetery. He will always be remembered and respected for his years of service.
