WWI Louis enlisted at 18 in the Royal Canadian Engineers early in the Autumn of 1915 and the following Winter he spent completing the necessary training for overseas duty in Halifax. He sailed on Good Friday, 1916 with his unit for St. Lucia, British West Indies. Louis is the son of Mrs. Charles Brittain of Halifax and was serving as a clerk in a store before his enlistment. BRITTEN, Ralph Edward WWII Ralph was born in Descousse, NS on October 21, 1922 and joined the # 409 Squadron of the air force and served in England and France. He received the Distinguished Flying Cross, the France/Germany Star, the Defence Medal, the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal, the War Medal 1939-45 and the 1939-45 Star. He was a member of the Isle Madame Branch #150 for 42 years. Ralph passed away on December 30, 2000. Submitted by the Isle Madame Branch #150 of The Royal Canadian Legion. BROWN, Blanche Eudora WWII Blanche was born in Pugwash Junction in 1909 and joined the CWAC # 24 Company and served in Canada and Halifax. She received the CNS Medal with ribbon. Blanche passed away in 1995. Submitted independently. BROCKLEBANK, William H. WWI William enlisted at the age of 15 in the Manchester Regiment and saw service in the Boer War. When his regiment was later disbanded he came out to Canada and joined the R.C.R. and at the end of his term of service he returned to civil life and when the war was declared he enlisted with the 66th P.L.F. and left on the same ship for England with his brother-in-law, Sergeant Baxter and took part in many engagements. He was later transferred to the Canadian Engineers with the rank of Sergeant and later promoted to Quarter-Master Sergeant and was one among the first Canadians to enter Germany.
