PEACETIME David was born in Port Felix, NS and graduated from Guysborough Municipal High School in 1971 and joined the Canadian Armed Forces Communication Reserve in August 1971. In June, 1972 he joined the regular forces (Navy) as a medical technician and was posted in Gagetown, NB, Petewawa, ON, Cold Lake, AB, Gypsvmuille, MB, Borden, ON, Victoria, BC and Halifax, NS. He also served on HMCS Gatineau for 5 years and HMCS Terra Nova for 2 years. His overseas tours included United Nations Emergency Force in Egypt in 1977-78 and the United Nations Defence Observer force in Golan Heights 1990-91 during the Gulf War. He took part on a NATO Tour in 1992 on HMCS Gatineau patrolling the Adriatic Sea. David retired from the regular force in 1999 after 27 years and then transferred to Navy Reserve and serving full time at Shearwater, NS. Submitted by the Torbay Branch #117 of The Royal Canadian Legion. CASHIN, Ernest WWII Ernest was born in Port Felix, NS in 1922 and joined the Canadian Army in 1939. While he was overseas he was wounded and crawled for five days before he received help. He lived with bullet fragments in the base of his neck all of his life. Ernest was a Chartered Member of the Torbay Branch #117 of the RCL. He lived in British Columbia for a number of years and upon his retirement he returned to Whitehead and became a salmon fisherman. Ernest never married and passed away on June 23, 1987 at the age of 65. Submitted by the Torbay Branch #117 of The Royal Canadian Legion. CHISHOLM, Daniel Neil WWI Daniel enlisted in St. Francis Xavier University Medical Corps on March 4, 1916 and sailed for England on June 19, 1916 crossing over to France in March 1917 and served in the No. 9 Canadian Station Hospital from then until demobilization. CHISHOLM, Alexander Neil WWI Alexander enlisted in the McGill Medical Corps at Montreal on February 20, 1915 and sailed for England three months later and served a year in France at a military hospital and then was granted permission to return to McGill University with other medical students to finish his course in medicine. He graduated in May, 1917 and enlisted again in the Canadian Army Medical Corps in Montreal in September 1918. Submitted by the Middleton Branch #001 of The Royal Canadian Legion.
