Currie of Halifax was at the opening of hostilities a student at the Halifax Academy and enlisted with the Artillery at Charlottetown, PEI on August 6, 1914 being only 17 years old and was sent to Canso, NS with his unit to protect cable station. He joined the 2nd Canadian Siege Battery in June 1915 and went overseas in October and then to France I on April 1916, where he fought with his unit until the close of hostilities. He was then posted to headquarters staff in Germany. Submitted by the Middleton Branch #001 of The Royal Canadian Legion. DAKIN, Willie B. WWII Willie was born in Centreville, Digby County in 1918 and joined the West Nova Scotia Regiment, Heavy Artillery serving in England and Continental Europe. He was a Life Member of the Digby Branch #020 for 48 years. Willie passed away in 2004. Submitted by the Digby Branch #020 of The Royal Canadian Legion. DAY, W. Fenwick WWI Sergeant Day enlisted in 1915 with the 6th Canadian Mounted Rifles and proceeded to France and saw long and hard service being badly gassed in February. On August 9, 1918 he made the supreme sacrifice being killed in action during the last offensive of the war. Submitted by the Middleton Branch #001 of The Royal Canadian Legion. DAY, Robert E. WWI Robert enlisted in the 6th C.M.R. and was wounded in 1916 with shell shock and also suffered from trench fever and as a result he was invalided to England and on partial recovery made instructor at Bramshott.
