Nova Scotia/Nunavut Command of The Royal Canadian Legion www.ns.legion.ca 87 ELLS, A. Vincent WWII Vincent was born in Selma, Hants Co. NS in 1924 and joined the RCASC Second Division serving in Canada, England, France, Belgium and Holland. He received the 1939-45 Star, the France/Germany Star, the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and the Queen of Canada Medal. Vincent is a member of the Westside Branch #126 of the RCL for the past 62 years. Submitted by the Westside Branch #126 of The Royal Canadian Legion. EMINO, Marcel Henry WWII Marcel, son of Everett and Mildred Emino was born in Simpson’s Corner in 1921 and enlisted in police training for the military in Eastern Passage, NS in 1941 after which he traveled to Ottawa to provide gun demonstrations. He became a member of A23 Eastern Passage Regimental Police and was appointed Guard Commander and received the rank of Lance Corporal. Marcel received the rank of Corporal in Windsor, NS where he was an instructor and then received the rank of Sergeant while instructing in Sussex, NB. In August, 1945 he signed up for active duty in the Pacific and traveled to Vancouver however the war ended in 1945 while he was waiting to go overseas. Marcel was discharged in February 1946 and still resides in Simpson’s Corner, NS and is a member of Branch #102 of the RCL for over 50 years. WWI Cyril was born on July 29, 1893 in Halifax, NS and received a commission in the 66th P.L.F. in 1915 and went overseas in October 1917 and crossed to France as Subaltern in the 85th of June 3, 1918. While on a battle patrol on the night of July 30, he penetrated three belts of German wire and was struck down by stick bombs. Upon not returning, he was sought for and found by his Commanding Officer, Lt. Col. J.L. Ralston who with h the assistance of Lt. Carl E. Smith carried him out. He was removed to No. 7 Casualty Clearing Station where he passed away on August 4, 1918. Submitted by the Middleton Branch #001 of The Royal Canadian Legion. ERICKSON, Archie Edgar WWII & PEACETIME Archie was born in Radville, SK in 1922 and joined the air force and flew many operational flights over Germany as a pilot and as an instructor. He was a member of the Canadian Squadrons 427 & 432 and also for the English Squadron 119. After the war he re-enlisted in the air force and spent several years in Saskatchewan and Manitoba before his final posting to CFB Greenwood in 1957 where he was with the 405 Squadron un 1962 when he was transferred to the 449 Squadron (the Argus Conversion Unite) as Flying and Ground School Instructor. He retired on May 10, 1970 from a career he loved. Archie passed away in 2008. Submitted Independently.
