WWI Joseph joined up with the Royal Canadian Engineers on April 1, 1916 and accompanied his unit to France from Halifax serving in the battle zone until August 1917 when he was invalided home. EVANS, Leo Joseph WWI Leo enlisted on May 4, 1915 with the 55th Battalion and went overseas and was transferred to the 21st Battalion as a Signaller and fought through hard fought engagements at Vimy Ridge, Lens, the Somme and Passchendaele. FERGUSON, Joseph Robert WWI Joseph, son of Mr. and Mrs. John Ferguson, had been a member of the 63rd Halifax Rifles and volunteered for service at the front, joining the 4th Siege Battery and went overseas in February 1916 and saw many a hard fight but escaped without injury. FELTMATE, Donald WWII Donald was born in Whitehead, NS and enlisted at Halifax on November 3, 1942 in the RCAF, Marine Squadron #102 and did his basic training at #5 Manning Depot, Lachine, Quebec. He was involved in Search and Rescue work around the coasts of Nova Scotia, Newfoundland and Labrador along with service and preparation of the seaplane submarine patrol flights and was honourably discharged in Dartmouth, NS on December 9. 1945. Don married Vera Lambert on October 19, 1945 and worked for the fisheries co-operatives throughout the Atlantic provinces for over 40 years before his retirement in 1986. After his retirement he resided in Sheet Harbour, NS. He passed away on April 1, 1999. Don was a Life member of the Torbay Branch #117.
