He was a gunner operator and served on the home front at Camp Borden, Ontario. He was discharged on April 18, 1946 and married Helen Boyle from Afton, NS with whom he had 8 children. He worked installing floors. At present, Maurice and his wife live in Beaverbank, NS. Submitted by Tracadie & District. POIRIER, Alfred Hubert WWII Alfred was born in West Arichat, NS in 1918. He joined the Army and served as a Lieutenant with the Royal Canadian Regiment in England and Italy where he was killed in action on October 17, 1944. He is buried in the Cesena War Cemetery in Italy. He was awarded the War Medal 1939-45, the Italy Star and the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Bar. She joined the Army and served with the Princess Louise Fusiliers. She was in the Canadian Forces Reserves for fifty-five years and was awarded the Order of Military Merit. Dolly was a member of RCL Centennial Branch #160 before she passed away in 2010. Submitted by the Centennial Branch #160 of The Royal Canadian Legion. POIRIER, Hubert Fidile WWI Hubert was born in D’Escousse, NS on October 1, 1898. He joined the Army and served with the 22nd Battalion of the Canadian Infantry, Quebec Regiment, in France where he was killed in action at Pas de Calais on October 30, 1918. He is buried at Bellacourt Military Cemetery in Pas de Calais. He was awarded the Victory Medal, the 1914-1918 Star and the British War Medal.
