He enlisted in the Canadian Army and served with the 2nd Division in England, France, Holland, Belgium and Germany. He married and had 11 children. William presently lives in North Grant, Nova Scotia. Submitted by Tracadie & District. REID, John WWI John enlisted with the Composite Battalion in Halifax on September 10, 1915 at the age of 14. He sailed to England after a few months of training and volunteered for the Pioneer Regiment. He proceeded to France and after ten months of valiant service, was transferred to the Canadian Engineers, 1st Tramway Co. He was killed in a hut with sixteen others by the bursting of a German shell. Mack Reid, his brother, was also killed on active service with the 85th Battalion and a third brother, Tom Reid, also served in France and served with the army of occupation in Germany after the Armistice. WWI Burton enlisted in January 1916 and trained with the Royal Canadian Horse Artillery in Kingston, sailing for England on April 1, 1916. He was transferred as Pay Sergeant to the Pay and Record Office in London but reverted and went to France in November 1917 with the 43rd Howitzers, Canadian Field Artillery. He was in every engagement with them until the Armistice was signed. Submitted by the Middleton Branch #001 of The Royal Canadian Legion. REYNOLDS, Robert Wayne PEACETIME Robert was born in Hamilton, ON in 1967. He joined the Canadian Forces in December 1986, was posted to HMCS Athabaskan in August 1987 and to the First Canadian Submarine Squadron in 1991, serving on HMCS Ojibwa and Okanagan. He also instructed at the Canadian Forces Naval Operations School, was deployed to England from 2000 to 2003 and then served on HMCS Cornerbrook and Windsor. Robert retired in 2007 as a Master Seaman and was awarded the Canadian Forces Decoration, the Special Service Medal (NATO), and the Marlant BZ Award.
