WWI Leo enlisted with the 1st Depot Battalion “C” Company on May 24, 1918 and after preliminary training, sailed overseas inAugust. In England, he was transferred to the 85th Battalion where he completed his training. He was about to leave on a draft for France when the Armistice was announced and he was then transferred to the Medical Corps. Submitted by the Middleton Branch #001 of The Royal Canadian Legion. SHEA, Victor A. WWI Victor enlisted with the 219th Battalion “A” Company on March 4, 1915 at the age of 15. He was stricken with bronchial pneumonia while at Aldershot Camp, preventing him from going overseas. Upon his recovery, he was transferred to the 246th Battalion. SHORTLEN, William WWI William joined up with the 40th Battalion in 1914 and was transferred to another unit in England when the 40th was broken up. He crossed over to France and fought there gallantly and well until he fell, covered with wounds. He died a few days later. William was 36 and had a wife and eight small children when he enlisted. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force and served in Canada at CFB St. Thomas, NB. He was awarded the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal. Harvey was a member of RCL Lawrencetown Branch #112 for thirty years before he passed away in 1977. Submitted by the Lawrencetown Branch #112 of The Royal Canadian Legion.
