Nova Scotia/Nunavut Command of The Royal Canadian Legion www.ns.legion.ca 15 BONE, Arthur WWI Arthur, son of Modesti and Virginia Bonin, was born in D’Escousse, Richmond County, NS on July 16, 1893. He joined the 185th Battery Infantry of the Royal Canadian Regiment and served in France where he died on September 28, 1918. Arthur is buried in the Raillencourt Communal Cemetery Extension, Département du Nord, France. Arthur was awarded the 1914-1918 Star, the British War Medal and the Victory Medal. Submitted by the Isle Madame Branch #150 of The Royal Canadian Legion. BONIN, Joseph Leon PEACETIME Joseph was born in Port Royal, Isle Madame, NS on July 25, 1937. He joined the Army on February 11, 1955 at the age of 18 and served with the 4th Regiment Artillery. He was posted to Weimar, Germany on October 15, 1955 then returned to Canada to Petawawa, ON. Joseph was awarded the Peacekeeping Germany Medal. After his discharge on February 27, 1958, Leon worked on the oceanographic vessel, the Hudson, and in a nickel mine in Sudbury until he retired and moved back to Port Royal. Leon and his wife, Violet Dorey, have 3 girls and 2 boys. He has been a member of RCL Isle Madame Branch #150 for five years. Submitted by the Isle Madame Branch #150 of The Royal Canadian Legion. BOUDREAU, Abraham WWII Abraham was born in Petit-de-Grat, NS onAugust 26, 1919. He and his twin brother, Clifford, joined the Army and were both sent overseas after basic training. He served in the Infantry in Canada and England and was sent home and discharged on October 26, 1945. He was awarded the War Medal 1939-45, the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Bar and Britain’s Defence Medal. After the war, he married and he and with his wife, Margorie, had 3 boys and 2 girls. Abraham was a cement finisher and was a member of RCL Isle Madame Branch #150 in Arichat for sixteen years before he passed away in 1999. Submitted by the Isle Madame Branch #150 of The Royal Canadian Legion. BONIN, Wilfred Joseph WWII Wilfred was born in Newton, Massachusetts, USA on January 14, 1917. He joined the Canadian Army at age 22 and served with the Royal Canadian Engineers in Canada, England and Europe. While in England, he injured his foot so he was transferred back to Halifax, NS and was discharged at No. 6 Depot on March 18, 1946. He worked as a fish cutter in Petit-de-Grat then as a seaman on the lake boats in Ontario till he retired. Wilfred and his wife, Doris Leblanc, had 2 girls. He received the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp. Wilfred was a member of RCL Isle Madame Branch #150 before he died on April 2, 1996.
