She enlisted in the Army Medical Corps in WWII and served overseas as a nursing sister. She married John Purcell Tramble and they had 3 sons and 1 daughter. Grace is buried in Tracadie, Nova Scotia. Submitted by Tracadie & District. TRAMBLE, John Purcell WWII Purcell was born in Tracadie in 1916. He enlisted in the Canadian Army on February 1, 1942 in New Glasgow and served with the 100 Battery 4th Light Anti-Aircraft Unit, 3rd Division. He served in the UK and Continental Europe and was at the Normandy Invasion, returning to civilian life on February 12, 1946. He received the 1939-45 Star, the France and Germany Star, the Defence Medal, and the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp. After the war, he worked in Montreal and farmed outside the city then he and his wife, Grace (also a WWII Vet), returned to Nova Scotia. They have 3 sons and 1 daughter. Purcell now resides in Ontario with one of his sons and is a member of our Veterans Committee, helping make all this possible. Submitted by Tracadie & District. Van DER PLUIJM, Peter Michael PEACETIME Peter was born in Halifax, NS in 1947. He joined the Royal Canadian Navy and served on HMCS Protecteur in Canada. Peter was a member of RCL Lawrencetown Branch #112 for fourteen years before he died in 2006. Submitted by the Lawrencetown Branch #112 of The Royal Canadian Legion. TUFTS, Frederick WWI Frederick enlisted in the 219th Battalion in October 1916 and was wounded in July 1917, then sent to England. He served his country nobly and well and according to his comrades in action, feared no danger. Submitted by the Middleton Branch #001 of The Royal Canadian Legion.
