Nova Scotia/Nunavut Command of The Royal Canadian Legion www.ns.legion.ca 189 WHITESELL (PITTS), Eva Christine WWII Eva was born to Joseph Benedict Pitts and Margaret Ann Delorey in Tracadie, NS on December 15, 1913. She enlisted in the Canadian Women’s Army Corps in Toronto, Ontario on January 7, 1942. She served in the UK and received the Defence of Britain Medal and the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp. She returned to civilian life on February 19, 1945 and later married Frank Whitesell. They had no children. Eva was very active in the Legion for more than forty years. She is buried in Ontario. Submitted by Tracadie & District. WHITMAN, George Fitzgerald PEACETIME George was born in Lawrencetown, NS in 1930. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force and served in St. John, QC; Elmer, ON; Saskatoon and Moose Jaw, SK; Clinton, Centralia and Trenton, ON; Sea Island, BC; and 3-Wing Germany. George has been a member of RCL Lawrencetown Branch #112 for forty years. Submitted by the Lawrencetown Branch #112 of The Royal Canadian Legion. WILLIAMS, Owen Lloyd WWII Owen was born in Ostrea Lake, near Halifax, NS. He enlisted in the Merchant Navy and served overseas on a provision ship. He received the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal, the Merchant Navy Association Medal, the Defence Medal and the War Medal 1939-45. He married Eileen Bowman and they settled in Monastery and raised 9 children. Owen is buried in Musquodoboit Harbour, NS. Submitted by Tracadie & District. WHITMAN, William Charles WWII William was born in Lawrencetown, NS in 1919. He joined the Royal Canadian Air Force and served with 119 Squadron in Rockcliffe, Ontario and Yarmouth, Nova Scotia.
