Nova Scotia/Nunavut Command of The Royal Canadian Legion www.ns.legion.ca 37 CHISHOLM, James Burnham WWI James was born in Highland Village, NS in 1890 and died in 1971. In June 1915, at age 25, he joined the Army and served with the Canadian Mounted Rifles. Seriously wounded in France, he spent many months at Camp Hill Hospital as well as in English hospitals. He later trained as a silversmith with Birks, spending many years in Boston where he died at 81. Submitted by the Cobequid Branch #072 of The Royal Canadian Legion. CHISHOLM, Judson Layton WWI Judson was born in Highland Village, NS in 1897. He joined the Army at 19 and served with the 193rd Regiment in Europe. After he was wounded, he transferred to the 25th Regiment before returning home to Highland Village. He moved to Great Village where he was postmaster for many years. He was a member of RCL Cobequid Branch #072 for thirty-seven years before he died in 1974. Submitted by the Cobequid Branch #072 of The Royal Canadian Legion. CLANNON, Peter Martin WWII Peter was born in Petite Anse, NS onAugust 10, 1920. He joined the Merchant Navy and served as a fireman with his brother James on the SS Montrolite, an Imperial Oil Tanker in the Atlantic and on the high seas. After a U-Boat torpedo attacked their ship, James and Peter insisted on being in the same life boat but theirs was one of two lifeboats never recovered. They both drowned off the coast of Canada on February 4, 1942. Peter was awarded the War Medal 1939-45, the Atlantic Star and the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Bar.
