He joined the Army and served with the Royal Canadian Army Service Corps in Europe. He was killed in action on August 24, 1947 at age 46. Hardy is buried in St. James Cemetery in Fox Point. He enlisted in the army and served overseas in the United Kingdom, Italy, Sicily, France, and Germany and was at the Liberation of Holland. He received the Volunteer Service Medal, Defense Medal, and 1939-45 Star. After the war, he worked at St. F. X. University, and married Florence Bowie. They had one daughter. Alfred remarried to Ada Sullivan. He is buried in Tracadie. Submitted by Tracadie & District. COTIE, Elmer Charles WWII Elmer, son of Charles Cotie, was born in East Tracadie, NS in 1925. He enlisted in the Army and served on the home front. He was discharged on February 15, 1947. He received the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp and the War Medal 1939-45. After the war, he married Helen Pettipas with whom he had 2 daughters and he worked as a mechanic and truck driver. Elmer is buried in Tracadie. Submitted by Tracadie & District. COTIE, Charles Abraham WWI Charles, son of Nargis Cotie, was born in Barrio Beach, Antigonish Co., NS on May 6, 1887. He was a farmer before he was drafted on May 25, 1918 at CampAldershot.
