He joined the Army and served with the Essex Scottish Regiment of the Royal Canadian Infantry Corps in England, France and Holland where he was killed in action on February 19, 1945. He was awarded the War Medal 1939-45, the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Bar, the 1939-45 Star and the France and Germany Star. He died in 1945. He joined the Army and served with the Royal Canadian Engineer Service Corps in England, France, Holland and Germany. He was awarded the War Medal 1939-45, the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Bar, the 1939-45 Star, the France and Germany Star and Britain’s Defence Medal. Discharged in 1946, he worked for the Department of Defence for forty-five years. Joseph had 2 sons with Rita, his wife of 54 years. He died on September 19, 2007 at the age of eighty-two. She joined the Royal Canadian Air Force and served in Canada at CFB St. Jean, QC, CFBAylmer, ON and CFB St. Hubert, QC. She has been a member of RCL Lawrencetown Branch #113 for twenty years. Submitted by the Lawrencetown Branch #112 of The Royal Canadian Legion. DUBOIS, Bernie PEACETIME Bernie was born in Verdun, QC on April 1, 1931. He joined the Royal Canadian Navy on December 2, 1948 in Montreal and served as a weapons expert on HMCS Ontario, La Hulloise, Magnificent, Algonquin, Athabaskan, Nootka, Nipigon and Bonaventure. Bernie retired on December 4, 1973 with the rank of Chief Petty Officer. He and his wife had 3 sons and 1 daughter. Bernie was a Life Member of RCL Centennial Branch #160 before he passed away in 2010. Submitted by the Centennial Branch #160 of The Royal Canadian Legion.
