He joined the Army and served in England with the Royal Canadian Air Force. He was killed in action over the English Channel on November 24, 1943 at the age of 22. EDWARDS, Joseph WWII Joseph was born in Isle Madame, NS on September 29, 1919. He joined the Army and served with the West Nova Scotia Regiment of the Royal Canadian Infantry Corps in Italy where he was killed in action on December 11, 1943. He was awarded the War Medal 1939-45, the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Bar, the 193945 Star and the Italy Star. Submitted by the Isle Madame Branch #150 of The Royal Canadian Legion. FACEY, Samuel Sanders WWII Samuel, son of Samuel and Clara (MacDonald) Facey, was born in Pictou Landing, NS and came to Tracadie in 1956. He enlisted in the Canadian Army with the Pictou Highlanders and went overseas with the North Novas. He spent fourteen months in Bermuda and served in the Liberation of Holland. He married Audrey West and they had 4 children. After the war, he worked in the Trenton Car Works and Maritime Steel and had a store in Tracadie for 23 years. He received the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp, the France and Germany Star, the 1939-45 Star, the War Medal 1939-45 and the Dutch Medal. His wife, Audrey, still lives in Tracadie. Samuel is buried in Afton United Church Cemetery. Submitted by Tracadie & District. ELMS, Norman Arthur WWII Norman, son of William John Elms, was born in Upper Big Tracadie, NS. He enlisted in the Army and served in the UK, Italy, Sicily, North Africa and Central Europe. He was awarded the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Clasp, Defence Medal, France and Germany Star, Italy Star and the 1939-45 Star. He married Marian Ash and they settled in Monastery, NS where he was a brick layer by trade and was also pastor of the Monastery Baptist Church. Norman is buried in Monastery.
