Nova Scotia/Nunavut Command of The Royal Canadian Legion www.ns.legion.ca 83 KINNEY, Hiram WWI Hiram, son of Thomas Kinney and Amelia Sterns, was born in Linwood, Antigonish County, NS on March 1884. He was the son of Thomas Kinney and Amelia Sterns. He homesteaded in Western Canada before WWI. He enlisted in Trail, BC on May 16, 1916 with the 211th Battalion. He returned home to NS after the war and farmed. He is buried in Linwood Anglican Cemetery. He never married. Submitted by Tracadie & District. KNOX, Ralph A. WWI Ralph enlisted with the 219th Battalion in February 1916 but after further medical examinations, he was refused for overseas service. He was attached to the Headquarters Staff in Halifax and worked steadily in this position until September 1, 1918 when he was promoted to Sergeant. Submitted by the Middleton Branch #001 of The Royal Canadian Legion. LANDRY, Hubert Alphonsus WWI Hubert, son of Isadore Landry, Sr., was born in Afton, Antigonish Co., NS in 1884. He was a bricklayer by trade and was living in Stellarton at the time of enlistment on March 10, 1916. He served with the 193rd Battalion, Canadian Infantry and was with the Canadian Overseas Expeditionary Forces. After the war, he moved to the U.S. Hubert was killed in an elevator accident. Submitted by Tracadie & District. LANDRY, Dominique Alcide WWII Dominique was born in Petit-de-Grat on October 29, 1926. He joined the Merchant Marine and served on Canada’s Eastern seaboard. Dominique was awarded the War Medal 1939-45 and the Canadian Volunteer Service Medal and Bar. After his discharge, he worked with Dominion Coal and sailed on several ships, including the Wabana, Arthur Cross, and La Grande Hermaine. Dominique raised 5 children with Nora, his wife of 53 years and he has been a member of RCL Isle Madame Branch #150 for fifty-five years and a Lifetime Member since 1992.
