Nova Scotia/Nunavut Command of The Royal Canadian Legion www.ns.legion.ca 7 ADAMS, Frank WWI Frank, son of Jonathan Adams of Halifax, joined the 6th Canadian Mounted Rifles and reached France in February 1916. He was invalided to England and on recovery, joined the Engineers and fought with them through France until the close of the struggle. Submitted by the Middleton Branch #001 of The Royal Canadian Legion. ALEXANDER (BOYLE), Mary Patricia PEACETIME Mary was born to Alice Irene (Murphy) and John Thompson Boyle in Afton, NS. She enlisted in the Royal Canadian Air Force in February 1957 after completing her training at St. Jean, QC. She was later stationed at Aylmer, ON and Lachine, QC. In August 1953, she was transferred to Langar, England where she remained until her discharge in April 1955. She later married Bruce Alexander and they had 9 children. Mary currently resides in Lethbridge, Alberta. Submitted by Tracadie & District. AVERY (CAYER), Mildred Hilda WWII Mildred, daughter of Jeffrey and Mamie Gerroir, was born in Larry’s River, NS on December 13, 1919. She joined the Army and served with the Canadian Women’s Army Corps in Canada. Mildred married Albert Cayer of Quebec and they had 6 children. Mildred died on January 9, 1960 in Quebec. Submitted by the Chedabucto Branch #046 of The Royal Canadian Legion. ASH, James Huntly WWI James, son of Alexander and Ida Ash, was born in Monastery, NS. He joined the Canadian Infantry and was posted overseas with the Royal Rifles of Canada. James was killed in action. He was the brother of Marjorie Borden, Monastery.
